Pre-school graduation. The graduates introduced themselves,
​describing what type of professional they will be when they become adults.
Bees never stop working, and neither do the beekeepers. In the summer, they also
​reactivate the carpentry workshop (repairing school furniture, for now).
After beekeeping today, we stayed for a while, listening to Dudson's "trumpet" and Fritzlin's "flute". :)
Ecology is part of the holistic education. The beekeepers are planting Vetiver hedgerows
​on the hills behind the school, to protect the soil from erosion and conserve groundwater.
During the summer, the young beekeepers/carpenters keep practicing their trades, while learning the importance of innovation and diversification. They are making a different beehive model than the one they are used to. This model is best for harvesting beeswax, which will help them make some extra income.

We have just started this small chicken coop to encourage local food production and help the school cover some expenses. It is an initiative of Fé y Alegría.
Before classes start on October 1st, some improvements: a driveway to avoid mud at the school entrance and, in the cafeteria, a station with safe drinking water and a station for each student to wash their own dishes after eating. This is financed by a Spanish NGO: FISC.
With great joy, we are proud to share these photos from the graduation ceremony of St. Ignatius Loyoal school in Haiti. Our graduates are extraordinarily talented, and they have achieved this milestone with great effort, and with the support of their families, the educational community, and people like you.
