The San Ignacio de Loyola school was founded in 2006 by the Jesuit priest, Dérino Sainfariste (1962-2013), as part of an international transformative education movement, Fé y Alegría. It began with a preschool, and each year a course was added, until the first group of students graduated. Currently, enrollment is approximately 1,000 students (K - 12 grade). Since 2016, the administration of the school has been in the hands of a group of nuns from the Company of Mary.
Fundación Kanarí's interests are based on the community needs. Threfore, we collaborate directly with the Nuns who run the school, with the advice from a local Jesuit priest. In order to maximize the reach of resources, the foundation is supported by a Board of Directors composed of committed professionals and leaders.
